When The Ship Is Sinking

What do you do when the ship is sinking? Some people do what they can to find a life boat, and they save themselves. Others immediately jump into action and work with the crew to fix what’s broke, and try to save everyone. And some just freeze and hope one of the doers will come along and throw them into the life boat.

Now don’t get me wrong, the frozen people are frozen because, in the inside, they are so jumbled, they can’t even pick a path. And the ones who can only think of themselves have probably had to do things alone for a long time. I get it. But the ones who are doing anything they can to fix the ship, working with everyone, troubleshooting on the spot, they know that the only way to help the most people is to do something. And don’t you think for a second they aren’t internalized, scared, panicked, or afraid to fail! They are!

Today, I want to give the doers some props. To the people who chose to grow, choose to rise, choose to stay on course, choose to understand the panic inside is temporary, and will subside. They choose to continue on, most of the time being the only dooers in their life. While so many others are frozen, or saving themselves.

I know it is not my business to judge the frozen, or the self-savers. They are doing what they need to do and I have no idea how hard things are inside for them. But to the dooers: you are my hero’s, you are the bravest, because you know what you’re doing might not work - but you’re not going to stop without knowing you gave everything you had! I absolutely love that about you!

Today, if you know a doer, hug them, ask them if they’re ok, see if they would like a hand. And if you’re the doer who rarely gets the love you should - from my whole heart: I love you. I really do.
